The new RM 27-02 is a sports tourbillon watch designed by 〖RICHARD MILLE〗 exclusively for tennis player Rafael Nadal. It features not only an ultra-light case but also exceptional stability capable of withstanding the immense acceleration generated during the moment of impact—South African athlete Wayde van Niekerk wore this watch as he crossed the finish line to win the gold medal in the men’s 400-meter sprint final at the Rio Olympics.

Inspired by racing car chassis, RICHARD MILLE integrated the movement’s skeletonized mainplate with the case, significantly enhancing its shock resistance. To make the watch even lighter, Richard Mille collaborated with North Thin Ply Technology to develop a hard, wear-resistant “quartz fiber” ultra-light material for the case. The entire watch is as light as a sheet of paper and features a rugged texture reminiscent of Damascus steel.

The movement’s structure is clearly visible through the crystal. At 6 o’clock is a floating tourbillon, while at 12 o’clock sits Richard Mille’s proprietary rapid-rotation barrel, which provides up to 52 hours of power reserve and improves energy efficiency by 20% during the initial winding phase.

The white bezel is secured to the case with 12 Grade 5 titanium screws, paired with an orange strap and a red crown. To enhance readability, the tips of the hour and minute hands are highlighted in a bright orange-yellow hue.
